WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT TO FIND AT OCOEE CHRISTIAN CHURCH (DISCIPLES OF CHRIST)?

A WARM WELCOME
:
Folks here do a lot of shaking of hands and even more hugging. We also enjoy a time of fellowship together after the service, with a potluck meal on the first Sunday and lighter refreshments otherwise.

A TRADITIONAL SERVICE:
We try to make our service comfortable for everyone in attendance. Many of the hymns will be familiar, although we do try to learn new ones and we usually sing some praise medleys during the service. There won't be any loud shouting or wild emotional displays. We tend to be rather rational and think religion is as much a matter of the mind as of the heart. We don't jump up and down and seldom is there a jarring surprise in worship.

THE CELEBRATION OF THE LORD'S SUPPER EVERY SUNDAY
:
We believe that Christians must regularly and faithfully meditate upon God’s redemption of His children through Christ's death upon the Cross and upon Jesus' resurrection from the dead. Joining with all Christians of all times and places at the Table is a defining part of our heritage.

TIME LIMITS
:
Have you ever attended a service which you thought would never end? We try to begin on time. Worship itself will last just an hour or a very few minutes longer. We don't think longer is necessarily better than shorter.

A VERY GOOD SMALL CHURCH CHOIR AND A WONDERFULLY TALENTED PIANIST:
The choir with the help of Bob Jackson make music that helps the spirit soar Godward.

SERMONS:

that are usually brief, to-the-point, related to daily life, thoughtfully prepared, and from the texts of the Revised Common Lectionary, (occasionally varying from the lectionary for specific sermon series or holiday series). Sermons lift up the name and teachings of Jesus Christ as Lord and God as our Loving Creator.

LEADERSHIP IN CONGREGATIONAL LIFE AND WORSHIP BY MEN, WOMEN, AND YOUTH:
We believe that all are equal in the eyes of God and that God calls everyone to serve Him.

A SENSE OF HAVING GLORIFIED GOD AND BEEN IN HIS PRESENCE:
The rest of your week will be blessed by the time you have spent worshiping God in the fellowship of other Christians.

Communion: the breaking of the bread
